Reece James returned back to training
Chelsea skipper Reece James posted on social media today that he is back on the grass and started his recovery phase. James picked up an injury at the end of the pre-season. It's a repetitive hamstring injury that will take a few weeks to recover.
Reece James looked promising during the pre-season tour in the US. He started every pre-season game, except the last one against Inter Milan. Chelsea's medical team is working hard to bring James on the pitch, but Maresca and his technical staff should reassess Reece James's workload.
James played only 26 Premier League games for the past two seasons, and this season will be crucial to determine whether the Englishmen is still capable of playing at the highest level and intensity.
Maresca should also reconsider if James will be the main captain or if the armband should be taken by someone else. If the captain is out throughout the majority of the season, his presence and authority could be hugely missed.
For now, Enzo Fernandez will lead the team as captain and it all depends on James' availabiliry.
